I’m excited to share an update on my latest aquascaping project! I’ve been busy setting up a new aquarium and have just reached a major milestone – the hardscape is finally complete.
There’s something incredibly satisfying about arranging rocks, driftwood, and substrate to create the perfect foundation for what will eventually become a thriving underwater ecosystem. After countless adjustments and stepping back to evaluate the composition from different angles, I’m pleased with how the structure has turned out. The hardscape provides both visual interest and functional spaces that will serve as the backbone of the aquarium.

What’s Next
While the hardscape marks a significant step forward, there’s still plenty of work ahead:
Plant Selection: I’m currently researching and planning the plant selection for this setup. This stage requires careful consideration of lighting requirements, growth patterns, and how different species will complement each other and the existing hardscape. I want to ensure I choose plants that will not only look beautiful together but also create a balanced, sustainable environment.
External Filter: I also need to purchase a new external filter system. Proper filtration is crucial for maintaining water quality and supporting both plant and fish health, so I’m taking time to research the best options for this particular tank size and bioload.
The anticipation is building as I get closer to having a fully planted and operational aquarium. There’s nothing quite like watching an aquascape come to life as plants establish themselves and begin to fill in the design.
More updates to follow as this project progresses!
